31 January 2024 | 15:00-17:00 | Federal Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection, Austria
This interactive workshop, organised by the European Health Forum Gastein and Women in Global Health (WGH) Austria, included an exercise on privilege versus discrimination, followed by short spotlight contributions from experts from members of the Austrian WGH network on:
- structural challenges
- experiences of discrimination of patients from a medical anthropological perspective
- experiences of discrimination by healthcare staff.
Women in Global Health (WGH) is a global movement that aims to give visibility to women working in global health and to advocate for gender equality in healthcare.
The WGH Austria Chapter, which was launched in 2023, aims to bring together different health professionals at all levels to empower and promote women in leadership positions. The overarching goal is to demand equality in healthcare policy in Austria and to ensure that no one is left behind in order to bring about necessary changes in the system.
