Travelling to Gastein

By railway

If feasible, we strongly encourage participants to choose a climate conscious travel option such as train travel to the conference. Bad Hofgastein can be reached by a direct railway line from Salzburg (75 minutes via Railjet or EC) or Munich (180 minutes via EC), and there are many international connections to Bad Hofgastein with travel via Salzburg, Villach Central Station, or other stops on the railway line.

In partnership with the Salzburg regional government, we are pleased to offer EHFG 2023 delegates free of fee train travel between Salzburg and Bad Hofgastein. 

Timetables and connection information are available on the website of the Austrian Railways (ÖBB) and we also recommend checking out options for your international train connection via Trainline.

By plane

Arrival at Salzburg Airport

Salzburg Airport is the closest to the conference venue. Transfer time is approx. 60 minutes. 

The EHFG shuttle service between Salzburg Airport/Bad Hofgastein is in operation between Monday 25 and Friday 29 September. The welcome desk at the airport will be manned from Monday 25 until Wednesday 27 September. In order to schedule your pick-up time, we ask you please enter your flight details in our registration system.

Arrival at Munich Airport

A special shuttle service will additionally be provided to / from Munich Airport, as follows:

- Tuesday morning: Munich airport - Bad Hofgastein

- Wednesday morning: Munich airport - Bad Hofgastein

- Friday afternoon: Bad Hofgastein - Munich airport

Munich Airport has two arrival terminals. Please collect your luggage and exit through customs. Independent of your arrival in Terminal 1 or 2, please walk towards Starbucks located in Terminal 2, Gates G & H on level three. Our shuttle driver will be waiting for you with a clearly visible "EHFG Shuttle" sign.
