Women in Global Health Austria Chapter Launch

Women in Global Health (WGH) Austria held its official Chapter Launch in September, in the framework of the European Health Forum Gastein (EHFG) 2023. Over 120 people from the public health community gathered in Bad Hofgastein alongside a global online audience.

WGH is a global movement that aims to create visibility for women working in global health and advocates for gender equity and gender transformative leadership. With over 53 chapters worldwide across 49 countries, 2023 saw the formation of the Austrian chapter hosted by the EHFG. WGH Austria aims to build alliances for women working in a range of health professions, with a commitment to gender equality in health leadership in Austria and now boasts more than 150 members.

The Launch showcased three pioneering women in global health and introduced core members who are driving the chapters work plan and collective aims. A panel discussion then followed discussing One Health, migration and discrimination in the health sector and Education and training of health professionals.
