Pioneering cross-border collaborations for the European Health Union

Learnings from Childhood cancer successes

Wednesday, 27 September 2023 | 08:45-09:45 | Conference Centre

Organised by the European Society for Paediatric Oncology

The paediatric cancer sector in Europe is unique: due to the rarity of individual paediatric cancer types, there is a long-standing history of cross-border collaboration on research and healthcare delivery.

In this session, healthcare professionals and civil society representatives will share how European cooperation across childhood cancer has developed, highlighting different concepts and structures leading to success. The panel will examine responses to medicine shortages and lack of essential medicines in Europe.

Panellists will reflect on collaborative approaches aimed at tackling the challenges of the field such as European Reference Networks and innovative digital solutions. Attendees will be encouraged to explore and discuss anticipated changes of the Revision of the EU Pharmaceutical Strategy and establish how the childhood cancer community can offer a blueprint for cross-border collaboration in the European Health Union.
