The Young Forum Gastein (YFG) network fosters cross-sectoral exchange and collaboration across health-related fields, providing a platform for professional growth and skills development. Each year, scholarship recipients participate in the European Health Forum Gastein (EHFG), taking part in a dedicated YFG programme and contributing actively to the broader conference.

The EHFG 2025 will take place as a hybrid event from Tuesday 30 September to Friday 3 October. YFG scholarship holders will come together in-person in Bad Hofgastein, Austria, for the duration of the conference.

16 APRIL: Call for YFG applications opens

12 MAY: Deadline to submit your YFG application

Please ensure your completed application is submitted by 23:59 CEST on 12 May 2025.

early-June: Announcement of application results

Completed applications will be reviewed by the EHFG, and all applicants will be notified of the outcome by early-June 2025.

11 June: Online event for the YFG 2025 cohort

July - August: General preparations

Including programme development, working groups, YFG involvement, etc.

10 September: YFG 2025 online kick-off event

FAQ

When does the scholarship programme take place?

In 2025, the EHFG conference takes place from 30 September - 3 October. The YFG programme will commence on the morning of 30 September, as such YFG scholars should arrive in Bad Hofgastein on Monday, 29 September. In addition to the on-site programme, we organise two online events for the YFG scholars before the actual conference - these will be held on 11 June and 10 September.

What does the scholarship cover?

The YFG scholarship includes the EHFG conference registration fee, participation in the YFG programme, shuttle from/to Salzburg Airport, accommodation for four nights in a three-star hotel with breakfast, meals at the conference venue, and evening events.

What expenses must the scholars cover?

YFG scholars are responsible for their own travel arrangements and costs between their place of residence and Salzburg Airport. Other special requests, such as accompanying persons or a prolonged stay are to be covered by the scholars.

FAQ

As a PhD student, am I eligible to be a Young Gasteiner?

All scholars must have at least two years of full-time work experience. If you are in your third year of full-time PhD studies, you are eligible to apply. In your CV, please indicate all other relevant work experience you have.

What is meant by “proficiency in English” and proof?

This criteria has been set in order to ensure all YFG scholars can understand, discuss, and produce relevant information in English. We do not require an official certificate of English proficiency, a letter from your employer/supervisor stating that the applicant holds a sufficient level of English will suffice: for example, if the applicant uses English in their day-to-day work. Alternatively, a published (academic) piece of work in English, or a completed education in English is also considered a valid language proof.

What does it entail to be part of the YFG network?

Every year, a new call for applications is issued in order to form the cohort for that particular year. Each Young Gasteiner can participate in the scholarship programme up to four times (until their 35th birthday), and after participating in the programme, they remain as alumni members of the YFG network. There are no fees involved in being a member of this network and the year-round activities are open to all Young Gasteiners, including alumni members.
