Lunch Workshop
Tuesday, 29 September 2026 | 12:30-14:00 | Conference Centre entrance
The Ottawa Charter, created at the First International Conference on Health Promotion in Ottawa (November 1986), was a landmark document for Public Health. Its global framework for health promotion has provided countries, policymakers, and practitioners worldwide with a shared vision and practical guidance for improving population health and reducing inequalities. Forty years on, what does it mean to us now?
This unique session will feature Ilona Kickbusch, the Charter’s main architect, reflecting on her vision as a key leader who has shaped modern health promotion.
Join us for a dynamic and interactive session as we walk through the scenic Kurpark and along the Gasteiner Ache, offering an informal setting for discussion, reflection, and exchange on how the Charter continues to influence policy, practice, and future challenges in public health. The conversation will also be complemented by a special online edition of Healthy Europe, published ahead of the Forum, featuring articles and interviews on the Ottawa Charter from a European perspective.
