Resilient health systems are the key to maintaining delivery of care during political and economic shock. Resilience does more than protect against the unknown and unexpected, it additionally provides the ability to adapt to and meet the challenges of foreseen but potentially overwhelming change.

This session will delve into how we understand health system resilience through the lens of a sudden and sustained migration waves, such as the recent influx of Ukrainian migrants in some European countries. Experiences from the audience will be shared about how health systems across Europe are responding to migration challenges and how they can best respond to these shocks. The session will discuss resilience testing as a crucial tool to understand and strengthen health systems through the gathering of intelligence, building of coalitions, and identification of actionable strategies.
