Session 10
Wednesday, 30 September 2026 | 12:15-13:30 | Conference Centre
Global developments including the US Most Favoured Nation (MFN) policy and China’s rapid rise as an innovation powerhouse puts Europe in front of a stark choice: allow its health industrial base to further erode and become a late adopter of innovation developed elsewhere, or take back its place as a primary region for health research and development (R&D) and access to innovation for patients. The session will take as a starting point an overview of the global R&D pipeline, with a closer look at where new innovations are being developed and what conditions need to be in place for them to be available to European patients. The panel consisting of government, payer, patient, and industry representatives will discuss the policy responses that are needed from all stakeholders at the European Union (EU) and national level, including in relation to the EU Biotech Act, EU Health Technology Assessment Regulation, and national pricing and reimbursement systems.
