Session 7
Wednesday, 1 October 2025 | 10:30-11:45 | Kursaal
The EU AI Act represents a landmark regulatory framework to govern artificial intelligence. It is a horizontal legislation which applies across all industries, including health, where its successful implementation is key for countries to transform Europe’s health systems — driving improved patient outcomes, strengthening public health resilience, and accelerating innovation and economic value. This session will focus on generating strategic insights to translate the Act’s potential into national realities.
The panel, consisting of policymakers, patient groups, payers and innovators, will explore how the health sector, an already highly regulated space, offers a unique opportunity to demonstrate the interplay and potential complementarity between existing medical device and health regulations and the Act. In addition, approaches for implementation and enforcement of the Act across Europe’s health systems will be discussed, with opportunities and challenges highlighted. Finally, a roadmap for scaling responsible AI-driven innovations that improve health outcomes and economic competitiveness will be broadly articulated.
