Session 5
Wednesday, 30 September 2026 | 09:00-10:00 | Kursaal
DRAFT: Europe is entering a decisive phase in health policy. The revised EU Pharmaceutical Legislation—the most significant reform in over two decades—aims to improve access, availability, and affordability of medicines while strengthening Europe’s global competitiveness.
As the legislation moves towards implementation, key questions emerge: What does improved access mean in practice? Which mechanisms and flexibilities will shape outcomes? And how will broader geopolitical dynamics—such as global pricing pressures and trade developments—affect Europe’s ability to deliver on its objectives?
This session will focus on how the new framework can translate into timely and equitable access for patients across Member States. It will explore the concrete implementation choices that remain.
