Strengthening the patient voice in European health policy
The EHFG Patient Engagement Initiative is designed to strengthen the meaningful inclusion of patients and patient organisations in key health policy discussions. Recognising the essential value of lived experience, the programme supports individuals who can contribute patient‑centred perspectives to the EHFG discussions.
Ensuring these voices are present is crucial to making health policy more responsive, equitable, and grounded in real-world needs and experiences.
Through this initiative, the EHFG aims to lower barriers to participation, broaden representation, enable valuable connections with key policy decisionmakers, and ensure that patient voices help shape the future of health in Europe.
The Patient Engagement Initiative will facilitate the participation of a cohort of patient representatives each year with a fully supported EHFG experience, including travel, accommodation, and conference access.
Successful applicants will join a diverse cohort of patient advocates from across Europe, representing a range of health conditions, experiences, backgrounds, and perspectives. This approach aims to foster peer support, strengthen collective learning, and create opportunities for meaningful exchange within the European health policy community.
Through this experience, participants will be able to share their lived experience to policy discussions, and contribute to shaping dialogue on the future of health in Europe.
The selection of participants for the EHFG Patient Engagement Initiative is undertaken solely by the EHFG. Sponsors and funding partners have no involvement in, influence over, or decision-making role in the selection process. All applications are assessed independently against the programme criteria to ensure a fair, transparent, and equitable selection process.
