Health threats response

Thursday, 01.10.2015 | 12:00 - 13:30 | Norica Hotel

Organised by the European Centre for Disease and Prevention and Control with DG Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE), Health Threats Unit, European Commission

In light of the recent Ebola and MERS CoV outbreaks, how do we ensure that the EU is fully prepared to effectively respond to any public health emergency?

During this workshop, measures taken under the existing policy framework by the EU and its Member States during the Ebola outbreak in West Africa will be presented. We will share lessons learned and identify gaps from past and current health threats, such as on the influenza A/H1N1 pandemic in 2009, the recent Ebola and MERS CoV outbreaks.

We will also discuss roles and possible collaboration across sectors at national and EU level to further strengthen health emergency preparedness across Europe.

  • What are the preparedness mechanisms in place in the EU to protect citizens against infectious diseases and other threats to health?
  • In order to strengthen public health emergency preparedness in Europe, who needs to collaborate on what issues and how?
  • What can your organisation bring to the table?
