Franz Weichenberger is an entrepreneur and has been involved in developing tourism in the Gastein Valley for more than two decades. He held the office of President of the Tourist Association for 24 years and has much experience in the spa, health, congress and public insurance sector. He is a Board Member of the Spa Centre ‘Alpentherme Gastein’, the ‘Research Institute Gastein’ and a shareholder and board member of the ‘Gasteiner Heilstollen’ (Healing Caves). He has also been involved as a volunteer in the Austrian Red Cross (Regional Branch Salzburg) for 40 years. As the co-founder of the European Health Forum Gastein, he served as treasurer for more than 12 years and played an important role in the development of the EHFG.
Franz studied leisure and tourism management at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver (SFU), University St. Gallen (HSG), European Academy of Bolzano (EURAC) and the University of Salzburg (SMBS). He also holds an international executive Master of Business Administration degree.
