Call for applications

The Young Forum Gastein (YFG) network facilitates cross-sectoral learning and networking opportunities across health fields, providing a platform for professional growth and skills development. Scholarship recipients play an integral role in the European Health Forum Gastein conference programme and contribute actively throughout its duration.

2024 Edition

The EHFG 2024 will take place as a hybrid conference, offering participants the possibility to follow the discussions both online and on-site. The YFG scholarship programme will take place on-site in Bad Hofgastein, Austria.

The YFG programme will start with an online kick-off evening event on 10 September and will continue in Bad Hofgastein from 24 to 27 September 2024. The scholars should arrive in Bad Hofgastein on Monday evening, 23 September, and depart from Bad Hofgastein on the afternoon of Friday, 27 September. Please note that the accepted scholars are responsible for their travel arrangements and the respective costs to/from Salzburg Airport. There will be free of charge shuttle service offered from there.

16 APRIL: Call for YFG applications opens

13 MAY: Deadline to submit your YFG application

Take two steps to complete your application: 1. fill in the online form, 2. submit the required documents by email.

mid-June: Announcement of the application outcomes

Completed applications will be evaluated by the EHFG and all applicants will be informed of the outcome by mid-June 2024.

26 June: Online event for the YFG 2024 cohort

July - August: General preparations

Including programme development, working groups, YFG involvement, etc.

FAQ

When does the YFG scholarship programme take place?

In 2024, the EHFG conference takes place from 24-27 September. The YFG programme will commence on the morning of 24 September, as such YFG scholars should arrive in Bad Hofgastein on Monday, 23 September. In addition to the onsite programme, we organise two online events for the YFG scholars before the actual conference - these will be held on 26 June and 10 September.

What does the scholarship cover?

The YFG scholarship includes the EHFG conference registration fee, participation in the YFG programme, shuttle from/to Salzburg Airport, accommodation for four nights in a three-star hotel with breakfast, meals at the conference venue, and evening events. In order to enable equal participation opportunities for applicants with lower financial means, the respective applicants may apply for an additional travel scholarship covered by the EHFG. This can be applied by contacting yfg@ehfg.org

What expenses must the scholars cover?

YFG scholars are responsible for their own travel arrangements and costs between their place of residence and Salzburg Airport. Other special requests, such as accompanying persons or a prolonged stay are to be covered by the scholars.

FAQ

I am a PhD student. Am I eligible to become a Young Gasteiner?

All scholars must have a minimum of two years fulltime work experience. If you are in your third year of fulltime PhD studies, you are eligible to apply. In your CV, please indicate all other relevant work experience you may have.

What do you mean by “proficiency in English”? What is sufficient proof of language?

This criterion has been set in order to ensure all YFG scholars can understand, discuss, and produce relevant information in English. We do not require an official certificate of English proficiency, a letter from your employer/supervisor stating that the applicant holds a sufficient level of English will suffice: for example, if the applicant uses English in their day-to-day work. Alternatively, a published (academic) piece of work in English, or a completed education in English is also considered a valid language proof.

What does it entail to be part of the YFG network?

Every year, a new call for applications is issued in order to form the cohort for that particular year. Each Young Gasteiner can participate in the scholarship programme up to four times (until their 35th birthday), and after participating in the programme, they remain as alumni members of the YFG network. There are no fees involved in being a member of this network and the year-round activities are open to all Young Gasteiners, including alumni members.
