Building partnership on firm foundations - the imperative of transparency in the 21st century

Does the complex and, at times controversial, relationship between patient organisations and pharmaceutical companies, in particular regarding funding, overshadow the good work done by patient organisations in the interests of individuals? Do clearer rules on funding help to prevent potential conflicts of interest and damaging speculation about a patient group’s raison d’être and activities? This workshop will explore the role of transparency in guiding interactions between patient organisations and industry and will ask if greater openness and clearer terms of engagement can address the mistrust held by the general public and media alike.
